Stomp Your Way Into 2020!
Join us for the 40th Running of the Samson Stomp & Romp
This annual event is dedicated to one of the Zoo’s most beloved animals, Samson, the silverback gorilla. This magnificent animal arrived at the Zoo’s Washington Park location in 1950 from West Africa, at an estimated one year of age. He lived out his life here and became an icon for the Zoo and the animal collection. Samson died of an apparent heart attack in 1981 at the age of 32. The Samson Stomp annual run began in 1981 as a way to commemorate Samson’s life.
Entry fees include a long-sleeved T-shirt, Zoo admission, beverage and parking for runner only. Race will be held rain or shine, snow or cold, however the Milwaukee County Zoo reserves the right to cancel due to severe weather or dangerous, unforeseen race conditions. No refunds will be given.
The 5K race is officially timed and all races take place on public walkways throughout the Zoo. Due to safety concerns, no strollers, in-line skates or similar devices permitted.
